This year the road relays are going to be held on Saturday 19th September and as usual are at Sutton Park.
This is my first year as Ladies Road Relays manager and I hope to follow on the great success that Linda has made over the last few years. Last season’s road relays were a huge achievement for all those involved with a record number of women taking part, bringing faster times and higher rankings than in previous years.
So as many of you come out of a summer of racing and look forward to the fast approaching cross country season why not challenge yourself on this great course and represent Bournville in one of the main club events of the year. For those that are new to the club, or those that have been with us a while but are looking to try something new, why not join us for the road relays? Each team compromises of 4 runners, each running a leg of just under 3 miles, racing against other clubs from within the Midlands. All members are more than welcome to come and join us, it’s a fantastic event enjoyed by everyone involved and is a great day out.
Any ladies that are interested in representing Bournville or just want some more information about whats involved please come and see me on club nights, I will be down both Monday and Thursday for the next couple of weeks, or email me at the address below. Those that frequently run the relays are all very friendly and welcoming, so if you want to know any more details about what it’s actually like to take part I’m sure they will be happy to enlighten you! Please let me know by Thursday 4th September if you want to run as I have to enter the teams.
This year it is also part of the Grand Prix, so there are potentially lots of points up for grabs! And if that’s not enough of an incentive, I might even supply cake as a treat for you all!
