Two BvH runners participated in BRAC's fifth Open Track and Field meeting of 2009 at Birmingham University. The organization was first rate, but due to the large attendance;especially of young "up and coming" athletes, the programme did over-run by some 15 - 20 minutes.

There are very few one mile track races these days and it has always been one of my favourite distances to race (I was the One Mile Champion in my senior school!). I am extremely grateful to Richard Carney BRAC who acted as my pace-maker. I am "coming back" from injury and my aim was, therefore, to go under 7 mins, so I have to be satisfied with my endeavours on the night. I didn`t have a chance to talk with Kevin, but I hope he was "happy" with his performance.
I do recommend these open track and field events as they can help with speedwork during the summer.I know that "we" are primarily a road running/cross-country running club, but on the principle that we run short/flat in the spring/summer and longer distances and cross-country in the autumn/winter then some track work (a means to an end) can make sense. However, I realize that it is not for everyone.
