Youth Championships - Day Three

The final day of the ASA East Region Youth Championships took place at the Sportspark, University of East Anglia in Norwich on 5th May.  Several swimmers carried on their good form into the final day of the Championships by picking up more titles and medals. 

In the women’s 15 & under age group, Anne Bochmann (UEA City of Norwich SC) won 4 gold medals, in the 400m Freestyle, 200m IM, 200m Backstroke and 100m Freestyle.  Clubmate Bethany Coggins won the 100m Butterfly in the same age group.   The 15 & under 50m Breaststroke champion was Zoe Smith (Lowestoft & Oulton Broad SC). The 16 & over age group saw a different winner in each race; Harriet Brettle (Mid Beds Swim Squad) won the 400m Freestyle, Petra Chomicz (King’s Lynn SC) won the 50m Breaststroke, Katie Ambridge (Hatfield SC) won the 200m IM, Verity Goodey (Southend SC) took the 100m Butterfly title, Rebecca Reader (teamipswich SC) won the 200m Backstroke and Sophie George of Sudbury SC, the 100m Freestyle.  The Youth 4 x 100m Medley relay was won by UEA City of Norwich SC.

 

It was another successful day in the men’s 16 & under age group for Lewis Coleman (teamipswich SC) and David Godridge (Watford SC).  Lewis tied for first place in the 200m IM alongside Nicholas Thompson (UEA City of Norwich SC) and won the 100m Butterfly.  David won the 50m Breaststroke and the 100m Freestyle.  Thomas Sutton (St Felix school) won the 400m Freestyle and Sean Tomlin (Borough of Southend SC) won the 200m backstroke.  In the 17 & over age group, John Sargent (Hatfield SC) won the 200m Backstroke and the 100m Butterfly.  Charlie Walker (City of Peterborough SC) won the 100m Freestyle, Thomas Hollingsworth (UEA City of Norwich SC) won the 200m IM, James Allchorne (Hatfield SC) won the 50m Breaststroke and Bret Ferguson (Hatfield SC) took the 400m Freestyle title.  The Youth 4 x 100m Medley relay was won by Hatfield ‘A’ team. 

 

Sam Bradley proved a fierce competitor in the multi disability events, winning the men’s 50m Breaststroke, 200m IM and 400m Freestyle.  Ryan Crouch (teamipswich SC) won the 100m Freestyle.  In the women’s events Emma Hollis (Epping Forest SC) won the 50m Breaststroke, 400m Freestyle and 100m Freestyle.  Jodie Fleming (Colchester Phoenix SC) won the 200m IM and Sarah Bowling (King’s Lynn SC) won the 100m Butterfly.
