The asa has launched a new event for adult swimmers over the winter months – the T-30 Challenge. The T-30 is a timed swim of 30 minutes, and the challenge is to see what distance you can swim. Anyone over the age of 18 can enter, and you don’t need to be a member of a swimming club, but you will be able to see where you stand on a national database of times. The swim can take place at any time between 1st November 2008 and 31st January 2009, and is ideal for anyone needing a bit of motivation to get active during the winter. It can form part of a ‘Challenge for Christmas’ – doing something positive to combat the other excesses of the season! It could also be an event that you build a business team building challenge around, or a different style of training and competition for sports club members in their ‘off season’ such as cricket clubs, or for triathlon clubs. If you were thinking of fundraising activities for a charity or community group, you could encourage people to take on the swim, and be sponsored for their efforts. You could, of course, just do it because you enjoy swimming for 30 minutes or more!
