Honours were shared on the first day of the British Gas ASA National Age Group Diving Championships in Leeds.
There were golds for City of Leeds DC, Crystal Palace DC, Cambridge Dive Team, Plymouth Diving and Southampton DA as divers aged from 8-18 years took to the springboard and platforms.
In the Girls Group D 1m, Crystal Palace DC swept the board, taking seven of the top eight places in the 19-strong field. Jemma Stephensen edged out team mates Katherine Torrance and Jessica Royes with some consistent scoring midway through her programme for her back, reverse and inward dives.
While it was up to Plymouth Diving club to fight out the top three spots in the Girls Group E 3m. It was Eloise King who with a score of 94.35 who took first place ahead of Abbey Douglas and Jessica Lidstone.
There was success for 15-year-old home diver Georgina Reynolds, who continued to build on her success from last year’s champs to take gold in the Girls Group A 1m event.
The City of Leeds diver, who won the Girls Group B event last year, had already established her lead at the half way point but cemented her first place with a score of 45.10 for her sixth dive, an inward one and half somersault dive in a tuck position.
Reynolds dropped her last two dives, but her score of 247.00 was enough to take gold ahead of Lois Hoyte, Beaumont DA (241.65) and third place Alice Pye arrogate District DC (231.20).
City of Leeds also took the honours in the youngest age group event of the day. Nine-year-old Luke Kennedy took gold in the Boys Group E 3m with a score of 99.00. Going into the fourth and final dive Kennedy was lying in third place but scored 33.25 on his inward one and half somersault dive in a tuck position to take the title.
Southampton DA’s William Osborne had to settle for silver medal, while Brandon Foster , the youngest competitor of the day at eight-years-old, took a bronze.
