FIG World Cup B in Acrobatic Gymnastics

LAUSANNE (SUI), FIG Office, August 25, 2009: After St Paul (USA), this year’s second FIG World Cup tournament in Acrobatic Gymnastics took place from August 21 – 22 in Veliky Novgorod (RUS). 81 gymnasts from nine different federations competed in this event.
Once again the gymnasts presented a fantastic display of high level acrobatics. Participating for the first time at a World Cup event, the Men's Pair from Tajikistan were welcomed by the family of acrobatics. They represented their country well, and gave notice of more to come. The medal winners were spread among the twelve participating countries and deservedly so. The Gold medals were shared between China (Men’s Group), Belgium (Mixed Pair), Russia (Women’s Group and Men’s Pair) and Belarus (Women’s Pair).

The World Cup winners were presented with their trophies by the FIG President Bruno Grandi during a special performance for Gennady Aleshin, Vice President of the Ministry of Sport in Russia and Vice President of the Olympic Committee of Russia.
