DISCUSSIONS UNDERWAY

Beijing (CHN) BTG FIG Office, August 23, 2008: At the close of the Games of the XXIXth Olympiad, Mr Xi Jinping, Vice President of the People's Republic of China, gave a reception to which were invited authorities of the International Federations and National Olympic Committees.

International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge took the opportunity to emphasise the high flying success of these Games, an observation that was sure to bring utter satisfaction to China's Vice President.

The reception also afforded an opportunity for FIG President Prof. Bruno Grandi (ITA) to discuss with ACNO President and Olympic Solidarity Director Mr Mario Vazquez Rana (MEX) projects geared toward the development of sport in general and gymnastics in particular on the South American continent.

Gymnastics is ever indebted to Olympic Solidarity, an organisation which annually supports a wide range of projects and which assists numerous athletes and coaches in the areas of education and development.

Exchange and discussion were the key words of the truly sumptuous reception given at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
