The Kaohsiung Organizing Committee (KOC) has developed an array of online games to promote The World Games 'on the borderless Internet'. The virtual NET SPORT games revolve around some of the sports that will be contested in the upcoming edition of The World Games.

In the online arcade developed by KOC’s Information Technology Department, certain sports of The World Games have been transformed into virtual games which can be played competitively over the Internet. The KOC believes it to be an effective way of combining real sports and gaming. It also allows people around the world to get to know Kaohsiung better: local sceneries have been incorporated into the games.

The qualifying rounds of the online 'World Games' are scheduled between 5 September and 10 October. The three Taiwan gamers and the three foreign gamers with the highest scores in the online competition will participate in the finals held in the atrium of the Kaohsiung City Hall on 17 October . The champion stands to win a cash prize of NT$ 50,000, followed by NT$ 25,000 and NT$ 12,500 for the first and second runner-up respectively.
