ITF - Successful Wimbledon Junior Educational Forum
30 Jun 2008 00:00

The forums which also take place at ITF junior team competitions and various regional tournaments throughout the year bring together players and experts from all over the world who educate them on various aspects of their tennis careers on and off court.

This years speakers at the Wimbledon forum were Sandy Harwitt, of the International Tennis Writers Association, who spoke to the players about the role and importance of the media in tennis. She also gave a demonstration of good interview technique with American player Chase Buchanan; Stuart Miller of the ITF who informed attendees about anti-doping regulations and the importance of keeping tennis drug-free. Then Fraser Reid of sports business lawyers, followed by Couchman Harrington Associates, who gave a presentation about the role of the agent; and then WTAs Ashley Keber whose presentation was entitled 'Say Yes to Responsibility' and informed the players about their responsibilities as professional athletes and also gave them useful tips about personal safety on the tour. The ITFs Dave Miley was also on hand to act as master of ceremonies and to give a presentation introducing the ITF, ATP and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour.

The Sony Ericsson WTA Tour has always been a keen supporter of the Wimbledon Forum and as well as providing a speaker in Ashley Keber they also donated gift packs for all attendees.

Luca Santilli, ITF Manager Juniors Tennis, said, "I was very pleased with the attendance from players and support team members at this annual ITF Wimbledon Junior Educational Forum. The presentations and information provided were first class and I am sure that they have contributed to raising awareness among the participants of these important subjects affecting their tennis careers."
