The new website strives to be to their audience, athletes and officials a singular resource for everything triathlon. A new Age Group section, targeted towards the amateur triathlete with information on getting started in the sport, training, equipment and available resources to the developing triathlete, headlines the redevelopment for the Olympic sport. Also included in the new package will be additional multimedia tools such as top-quality race video, Olympic highlights, athlete features, interviews, award-winning photo galleries, podcasts, social networking and more. As always the latest news will be at the forefront.
"For the first time we went to our audience and asked the question, 'What do you want to see on triathlon.org'", said Brian Mahony, Director of Media and Television. "The overwhelming reply was more of what we do best - more videos, more photos, more athlete information - and a couple of new things such as engaging the foundation of our sport, the amateur competitors."
Taking from the resources developed by ITU's Sport Development team and from the elite athletes themselves, ITU will for the first time offer tried and tested information and resources to the amateur triathlete.
Interactive profiles and information on the top athletes in the sport, their training and lifestyles is another major feature of the new website. Complemented by more video, images and interactive multimedia, the sport's fans can follow the sport and its stars like never before. The national federations will also have an array of tools at their disposal to maximise their participation in the growth of the sport.
