Snowdonia Marathon (27th October 2007)
31 Oct 2007 14:50
The National Trust Snowdonia Marathon is a demanding and spectacular route, encircling Snowdon: Wales' and England's highest peak. Not surprisingly there are amazing views along the entire route, although, the weather was a little disappointing this year as the rain and low cloud reduced visability, although produced some spectacular cloud formations over the mountains. Snowdonia M was voted the most scenic race in 2006 by readers of Runners World and is a favourite of several club members.
This year saw it reach its 25th birthday; pretty impressive, and remains extremely popular despite its demanding nature. Simon Link – no stranger to the course- had a great run coming home in fourth place in a time of 2:48:14, only a few seconds behind Dennis Walmsley of Bourton RR in third place (2:47:48), who has won it no fewer than 5 times. The race this year was won by Shaun Milford of Newquay RR in a time of 2:41:26.
