The Plymouth College/Plymouth Leander Swimming and Education partnership are seeking to recruit an individual who can contribute to the programme as Assistant Boarding Housemaster (Captains House for Elite Swimming Athletes) and Age Group Swimming Coach. This is an exciting opportunity to assist the Plymouth programme in their quest for success at the London Olympic Games in 2012 and also to ensure the talent pathway in Plymouth continues into Rio de Janeiro 2016 and beyond.
The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the welfare and supervision of approximately 20 elite male swimming athletes aged between 12 and 18 years in their residential boarding environment. In addition, the successful applicant will be required to lead the coaching of a talented group of age group swimmers competing at Regional and National level. Opportunities will also be provided for the successful candidate to work in an assistant coaching capacity with the elite youth and senior athletes at Plymouth Leander.
Due to the nature of this work, applicants should be male, aged 21 years or over and have a full UK driving licence. Confirmation of appointment is subject to a satisfactory enhanced CRB check. This is a ‘live in’ position which provides a one bedroom self contained flat on a rent free basis. All utility bills (including council tax, water, gas, electricity, TV licence, broadband internet et al) are covered by the College. The College catering staff will also cook and prepare for the appointee three meals per day, seven days per week in term time and/or when the elite swimming athletes are in residence, again at no charge. A non-smoking policy operates through the premises occupied by Plymouth College and Plymouth Leander.
Salary will be up to £15k per annum and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Funding for Continued Professional Development opportunities will also available through both Plymouth College and Plymouth Leander. Applicants will be funded through a mini bus driving course and First Aid at Work qualifications as a minimum.

A 50m pool is scheduled for opening in Plymouth in 2011. Plymouth College and Plymouth Leander pride themselves of successfully combining both academic and swimming excellence.
