Sport Volunteer Conference
23 Jun 2009 14:41

A Sport Volunteer Conference is taking place on 24th June at Coventry University’s Sports Centre in conjunction with CSW Sport, Coventry University, NGBs, Vinvolved and West Midlands 2012.

The day’s events, aimed at young people aged 16-25 years who have registered through CSW Sport, will include interactive leadership training with the opportunity to sign up to a community sport placement within a high quality sports club.

David Boughey, Sports and Physical Activity Volunteering Coordinator (across Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire), said that he was delighted to be running an event like this:

"This event is the first of its kind in the sub region due to the number of partners working together. A key element of my role is to bring organisations together to give a coordinated approach to sport volunteering and this initial project shows the potential for this to be achieved for the benefit of sport and its volunteers from  grass roots level leading up to and beyond 2012."

Nuneaton & Bedworth and City of Coventry Swimming Clubs have signed up to the scheme and receive support from the local vinvolved team which aims to provide them with young ‘Community Club Champions’ to develop key areas of the club.
