05 Nov 2009 10:46

The FIL 2010 World Lacrosse Championships have retained media agency Made in Manchester to develop their PR and marketing strategy.

The championships are being held at the Manchester University Sports grounds, The Armitage Centre from the 15th - 24th July 2010 and will attract over 30 nations.

Chief Executive of Made in Manchester and world champion swimmer James Hickman enthused, “We are very pleased to be working on the FIL World Lacrosse Championships, Manchester really is a city of top class world sport and we hope we can help to elevate this event the same way we did for the FINA World Swimming Championships in the MEN arena last year”.

“I used to play Lacrosse at school and I know what an exciting and, quite frankly, dangerous sport it can be.  I’m sure there will be lots of people that want to see this sport at its best.”

David Shuttleworth, English Lacrosse Association CEO said “Made in Manchester are passionate about sport in Manchester and put forward excellent ideas to promote the FIL 2010 World Championships to a wider audience.”

Sarah Gormley Head of PR and Marketing at Made in Manchester commented “Our ideas are rooted in continuing to showcase Manchester as a truly international hub for sport, culture, education, entertainment and performing arts. It will help to maximise media and public awareness of Lacrosse as well as develop and promote the vision for Manchester.”

English Lacrosse supported by Manchester City Council and the NWDA will host the Manchester 2010 FIL World Lacrosse Championships from the 14th – 24th July 2010.  There will also be an official FIL Festival between 17th-24th July, for the first time in the sports history

The championships will bring together over 30 different nations and the festival will attract 64 elite international touring sides from all over the world. In addition to this a Community event will run alongside the Championships and host local Primary, Secondary and Club teams.

There are a total of 3,000 athletes expected to participate in the event with 10-20,000 spectators purchasing up to 40,000 tickets. The event is expected to bring a £6.4 million of economic benefit to the North West region

There are sponsorship opportunities available for those who would like to support the FIL 2010 World Lacrosse Championships
