England men are off to a record start in the 2008 European Lacrosse Championship. They opened the tournament in Lahti Finland with a comprehensive 40-0 victory over newcomers Switzerland - a record winning margin for the England team in European or World competition.

Coach Collier commented, "We said to the players before the game that we wanted to demonstrate our commitment to winning these championsips and deliver a level of performance that reflected all the hard work that we have put into our preparations over the last six months. All credit to Switzerland who fought hard right to the end of the game, however we dominated possession winning 83% of the face offs.  Our exciting young attack, average age 21, made the most of this scoring 29 of our 40 goals and making 14 assists. We know that we will face tougher opposition as the tournament progresses, but we are confident that if we can maintain this level of performance we will do well."

England will next face Ireland, scores and reports to follow.
