Early Day Motion 1202- Better Funding Provision for Lacrosse

Early Day Motion 1202 is a proposal to the House of Commons in support of better funding provision for Lacrosse.  In particular it highlights the total lack of support that is received by the elite performance end of the game.  The motion calls on the government to acknowledge and address the lack of funding for International Lacrosse squads and to ensure a fair allocation of resources to assist with the considerable costs of training and competing at the elite level.  Although the motion refers to the Men’s U19 Squad the problem is equally relevant to the whole of the elite area.

In order to achieve the funding goals set forth in this motion I will need your assistance.  Please contact your local MP and urge them to sign EDM 1202.  You can find contact details for your MP online by visiting
www.writetothem.com and typing in your postcode.  At the moment 23 Members have signed the motion but in order to ensure its success the ELA would like to get that figure up to around 200 signing members.

Please keep in mind that the success of this motion would not only serve to further benefit England’s success at the International Level but will also help to put Lacrosse on the map.  Your efforts will aid us in achieving the level of recognition that Lacrosse deserves and help to acknowledge the game as one of the fastest growing sports both in England and Internationally.

The motion has the full support of the English Lacrosse Association and I hope that you will be willing to help lobby for its approval.

Please CLICK HERE for a copy of EDM 1202 in its entirety as well as a draft letter to an MP for you download and personalise.

If you could please confirm which MP you have written to by contacting the ELA Head Office it would be greatly appreciated!

Best wishes.

Yours sincerely,

David Shuttleworth
