A new guidance document has been produced by a group of referees, club secretaries and players from the East Region, which covers the key points of interpreting water polo rules. It is based on the official FINA guidelines, as well as information from Chris Freebury, British Swimming's Head of Water Polo Referee Development.
This guidance, intended for all club players and local league referees, aims to set a uniform standard for interpreting the key rules so as to ensure fair play and consistent refereeing.
ASA East Region Water Polo manager Chris Stephens said,
"We stand to gain a huge amount by adopting a consistent approach to the game. Players will have better and more rewarding games, referees will be more confident about promoting fair play and stamping out bad behaviour, and we will all benefit from adopting the same standards as national and international Water Polo.
