East Swimmers Shine at National Championships

The British Gas ASA National Swimming Championships took place in Sunderland, with East Region swimmers achieving podium places.
In the multi disability events, Emma Hollis (Epping Forest & District SC) won gold in the 100m Breaststroke, Sam Bradley (Mid Beds Swim Squad) won the men's 400m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly and Stephanie Bird (Lowestoft & Oulton Broad SC) won the 200m Freestyle. Silver medals were won by Jessica Applegate (Lowestoft & Oulton Broad SC)and Emma Cattle (Team Luton) with bronze medals being won by Stephanie Bird, Sam Bradley, Jo-Jo Cranfield, Chloe Williams (Phoenix Basildon SC), Lauren Hobbins (Team Luton) and Claire Warne (Team Luton).
In the able bodied events, Richard Charlesworth (Hatfield SC) was trying to book a spot on the England team for the Commonwealth Games and he will have impressed the selectors with a gold medal in the 1500m Freestyle. He also won silver in the 400m Freestyle.
