Exciting developments in Water Polo Coaching
13 Feb 2010 22:01

The ASA announce Advanced Coaching Offer and Level 3 award for Water Polo Coaches as part of it's ongoing programme for aquatic education in England.

The first ASA/UKCC Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Water Polo course will take place this Spring when a pilot group of water polo coaches will undertake the next step in extending their professional training and development. The course will then be available to all candidates later this year.

Secondly, water polo coaches in England are invited to become the latest to benefit from the Advanced Coaching Offer, an ambitious coaching programme offered in conjunction with the ASA Talent Development team.

The Advanced Coaching Offer will provide targeted support to up to 20 proactive, talented, developing water polo coaches across England over a four year period, with the initial intake being 8 coaches over the first two years.

At absolutely no cost to the coach or club, the programme will provide coaches with the opportunity to shape their future in aquatic coaching with a structured programme of observation/analyses of coaching sessions, mentoring, one to one discussions, coaching at regional talent programmes and attendance at English talent camps.

Colin Huffen, ASA Coaching Systems Manager is looking forward to an encouraging response: “This builds upon the huge success of the Advanced Coaching Offer for swimming coaches, launched last year, which was heavily over-subscribed.  It’s great that we can now open up the Advanced Coaching Offer to another discipline which will help build the future success of our water polo coaches and their players.”

He added; “To be able to simultaneously announce a key milestone in providing the Level 3 qualification is a real step forward in the support the ASA can offer to water polo coaches.”

To be eligible for the Advanced Coaching offer, coaches must live in England, coach in a club environment for a minimum of three hours per week, hold the UKCC Level 1 Coaching Water Polo qualification (or equivalent), have an ongoing commitment to self improvement and be willing to support other coaches in the area.

Interested parties should download and complete the Application Form by Friday 5th March 2010. Successful applicants will be contacted week commencing 8th March 2010.
