Masters set British and European records

East Region swimmers competing in the ASA Masters Championships held in Sheffield from 26th-28th October achieved several top 3 placings, and also brought home 6 British and 2 European records.

Geoff Thwaites (City of Cambridge SC) notched up British records in the Men's 60-64 years age group in the 50m, 100m and 200m Breaststroke events.  His times of 1:19.40 in the 100m, and 2:54.26 in the 200m were also European records.

Ivan Mayall (Chelmsford SC) broke the 200m Backstroke British record in the Men's 60-64 years age group.  Alyson Fordham of Harlow Penguins SC set a new British record in the Women's 50-54 years age group with a time of 1:04.84 in the 100m Freestyle. 

The City of Cambridge Mixed 200m Freestyle Relay team set a British record in the 100+ age category.
