SYLVESTER WINS FIRST EUROPEAN MEDAL

Promising British Diver Megan Sylvester has won her first international medal at the European Junior Championships in Minsk.

Competing in the girls 10m Individual Sylvester took to the boards with confidence and led the competition until the final round when she dropped marks with her front 3 ½ Somersaults piked.

The City of Sheffield Diver claimed the silver medal and announced herself to the European circuit with an impressive score of 344.45. She finished behind Alina Chaplenko of Ukraine with a score of 352.90. Third place went to Viktorya Potekhina with 338.40.

Also competing in the 10m Individual was Britain’s Saffron Sutcliffe who finished in 11th place with a score of 266.90.

In the boys 3m individual Chris Mears put up a good fight to win his second European Junior medal after finishing in third place with a score of 414.35. James Milton finished in 11th place with a total of 383.90.

The European Junior Diving Championships take place in Minsk, Belarus at the Water Sport Palace from 25 – 29 June.
