The British team competing at the WorldJunior Championships in Mexico almost added to their medal tally on the fifth day.
James Doolan (18) who qualified third for the final of the 50m Butterfly went 24.45, for fifth place. He finished just 0.19 seconds behind bronze medallist Pavel Sankovich of Belarus, who completed the race in 24.26. Ivan Lendjer of Serbia claimed silver in 23.97, whilst gold went to the victorious Daniel Bell of New Zealand with a time of 23.61.
The women’s team of Sasha Matthews (17), Jenna Turner (17), Emma Wilkins (17) and Lauren Collins (17) also finished fifth in the 4x100m Freestyle relay. They swam well but finished 1.47 seconds behind the third placed Canadian team who completed the final in 3:47.30. Silver went to Germany with a time of 3:46.63 and America secured gold in 3:43.54.
