BRITISH SWIMMERS DATE WITH ROYALTY
21 Aug 2008 15:40

The British Swimming contingent in Beijing met with HRH The Princess Royal as they were cheering on fellow team-mates Keri-Anne Payne and Cassandra Patten competing in the 10km marathon swim.

Earlier this week, former Prime Minister Tony Blair requested the company of Rebecca Adlington to join him and his family for lunch.

The double Olympic Champion Adlington spent time with Blair and his family earlier this week as they wanted to congratulate her on her recent successes.

Blair’s own charity ‘Tony Blair’s Sport Foundation’ has been created to encourage enhance participation into sport by young people. The foundation tries to encourage and inspire people to make the most of themselves through sport. In addition to providing training and helping schools and sports clubs receive the assistance they need.

Adlington has also got the bookies running, with odds stacked up in favour of her winning the BBC sports personality of the year, over Formula One drive Lewis Hamilton. The excitement has led to bookies further having to re-asses the situation and also placing the odds 3/1 for her to win two or more gold in the Olympic 2012.

With possibly lots more in sight, and with the Olympics coming to Britain next, all eyes will defiantly be on Rebecca Adlington with suggestions of her becoming the next Kelly Homes, of the waters.
