World Games 2009 Test Events, Kaohsiung (TPE)
KAOHSIUNG (TPE) FIG Office, November 5, 2008: Last night, the Aerobic Gymnastic qualifying round took place in the Kaohsiung Arena featuring Women’s Individual, Men’s Individual, Mixed Pairs and Trios.
Italian gymnast Giulia Bianchi earned the highest score of 19.950 in the Women's Individual Aerobics qualifying round. Bianchi was followed by France's Aurélie Joly with 19.850 and Dominique Mann of South Africa with 16.950. The only competitors in this event, all three qualified for the final set for later in the day.
Results Women’s Individuals
With the world’s best aerobic gymnasts competing here in Kaohsiung in the Men’s Individual category, the qualifying round was close. Morgan Jacquemin (FRA) performed the routine with the highest difficulty, which secured him the lead in the qualifying round (20.500). Jacquemin was just ahead of Hungarian Zsolt Roik, who finished second with 20.450 points. Third was France’s Julien Chaninet with 19.850, followed by Vito Iaia of Italy (19.700) and Matthew Levy (RSA). We will see them all in the final again.
Results Men’s Individuals
Spectators were thrilled when French gymnast Aurélie Joly lifted her partner François Chaninet into the air. Joly and Chaninet showed the highest difficulty in the Mixed Pair category and are leading the qualifying with a 20.400. Ha Tran Thi Thu and Dong Vu Ba from Vietnam ranked second with 19.050 points. With relatively low difficulty and an overall score of 13.650, the Pair from Chinese Taipei, Shin-Hui Chiou and Yu-Hsuan Chou, finished third.
Results Mixed Pairs
All women, all men or mixed Trio combinations are allowed in the Aerobic Gymnastics Trio category. France’s all men Trio was way ahead of its competitors today with a routine that won them the highest scores in artistic, execution and difficulty. With an overall score of 21.300, France edged out the Italian Trio, which finished second with 20.300 points. Vietnam’s 19.500 was good enough to place them in third position, relegating the Trios from Hungary (18.950) and Chinese Taipei (15.900), the only all women Trio, to ranks four and five.
