World Games 2009 Test Events, Kaohsiung (TPE)
KAOHSIUNG (TPE) FIG Office, November 2, 2008: An animated crowd went wild last night when world class acrobats, tumblers and trampoliners showed their stuff for the first time at an international competition in Chinese Taipei.
On this first day of Trampoline and Acrobatic competitions, local spectators got to see what it looks like when internationally top ranked gymnasts display their skill in Tumbling, Women’s Synchronised Trampoline, Men’s Group, Women’s and Mixed Pair Acrobatics disciplines. And they loved it!
World Champion Andrey Krylov (RUS) confirmed his supremacy in Men’s Tumbling once again, winning the Gold medal in yesterday’s Final. Krylov's combined score of 76.50 for his two routines was good enough to defeat Ukraine's Yuriy Freyuk, whose performance matched that of his Russian rival, but with an inferior difficulty that earned him a Silver medal winning 72.30 points. The Bronze went to France's Mickael Gosset, who scored 69.50 after placing fifth in the qualifying round in the wake of deductions in both routines.

Anna Korobeynikova (RUS), current World Champion and winner of the recent World Cup Final in Togliatti (RUS), captured a Gold medal in the Women’s Tumbling competition. With a combined 70.20 for her two routines, Korobeynikova easily outclassed Ukraine’s Olena Chabanenko, who took the Silver with 63.50, and France’s Jessica Courreges, who earned a Bronze with 61.00.

Results Women's and Men’s Tumbling Finals
Russian gymnasts Anastasia Velichko and Victoria Voronina won a tense battle in the Women's Trampoline Final, edging out the Pairs from Ukraine and Japan. The Russian duo we saw finishing third in qualifying earlier in the day made up for a lower degree of difficulty with flawless execution and synchronisation. They posted a score of 45.40, just enough to top the 45.00 pts score secured by Ukraine's Marina Kyiko and Natalia Moskvina, who had set the standard in the qualifying rounds. Japan's Ayana Yamada and Ayano Kishi took home the Bronze, while Portugal's Ana Rente and Nicole Pacheco finished fourth.

Russian gymnasts Tatiana Alexeeva and Natalia Fedorova grabbed the Gold medal in the Women’s Pairs Acrobatic Final by a narrow margin, ousting their Ukrainian rivals. The Russian duo scored an amazing 28.105 points, while Ukraine's Kateryna Rudenko and Alona Stekolnikova were close behind with the 27.900 that won them the Silver.

Having dominated the qualifying round earlier today, Ukraine's Alona Burlachenko and Sergei Zabiyaka won the Mixed Pairs Acrobatics Final with a 28.200 point total. They bested Russia's Lubov Pavluchenko and Sergey Markov who scored 27.490, and South Africa's Eliske Blofield and Alexander Demianenko with 25.730.

Ukraine collected a Gold medal in the Men's Group Acrobatic competition with a score of 28.169, overthrowing Russia, the only other team entered in the event. Ukrainian’ Roman Urazbakiyev, Andriy Bilozor, Andrii Lytvak, and Denys Kriuchkov carried off the Gold with more synchronised elements than their Russian contenders and a higher degree of difficulty in their routine. Russian Team Ilya Kalinin, Alexandr Maslenikov, Ivan Korshunov and Nikolay Gavryushev settled for a Silver with a score of 27.200.
