KAOHSIUNG (TPE) FIG Office, November 3, 2008: Once the local crowd had been introduced to high level Acrobatic and Trampoline Gymnastics on Saturday, they got a chance to see even more captivating performances in the Kaohsiung Arena. Men’s and Women’s Double Mini-Trampoline, Acrobatics Men’s Pairs and Women’s Groups as well as Men’s Synchronised Trampoline played out last night.

Here’s how it all went down:

Russian gymnasts Victoria Voronina and Galina Goncharenko were way ahead of their competitors in the Women’s Double Mini-Trampoline competition. Having led the qualifying round early in the day, Voronina scored a 69.70 and won the Gold medal, edging out Silver medallist Galina Goncharenko by a narrow 0.70. Ana Simoes of Portugal garnered the Bronze with a score of 66.30.

World Champion Kirill Ivanov (RUS) wowed spectators with energetic routines chock-full of extreme difficulty. With a combined score of 75.70, Ivanov captured the Gold in the Men's Double Mini-Trampoline Final, outperforming the four other competitors in both of his routines. The Silver went to fellow Russian Evgeniy Chernoivanov, who scored a 74.50, while Portuguese gymnast Andre Lico's 72.80 was good enough to secure him a Bronze.

Results Women's and Men’s Double Mini-Trampoline Finals

Ukraine's Dmytro Tarasenko and Yaroslav Pulin took a Gold in the Acrobatic Gymnastics Men's Pair Final with a score of 28.256. The Pair capitalised on its routine's higher degree of difficulty, sliding ahead of their competitors from both Portugal (0.199 lead) and Russia. Portugal's Joao Maia and Tiago Figueiredo, who finished third in qualifying earlier in the day, took the Silver with a score of 28.057, followed by Artem Yatsentyy and Ilya Kuznetsov (RUS).

Silver – Portugal: MAIA Joao / FIGUEIREDO Tiago - Total: 28.057

Ukraine captured a deserved Gold medal in Women's Group Acrobatic Gymnastics, putting on a successful show as the only team entered in the category. The Trio  made up of Irina Sheptiko, Anzhela Zharska and Lyudmyla Honchar attempted a routine that featured a high degree of difficulty, earning 25.630 points from the judges and approval from a wild crowd.

Japanese gymnasts Shunkuke Nagasaki and Masaki Ito captured the Gold medal in the Men's Synchronised Trampoline Final, which featured the last competition of the Trampoline and Acrobatic events this weekend at the World Games 2009 Test Events. The Pair not only outranked its competitors regarding synchronisation, it also gave the most difficult routine. In combination with perfect execution, their winning score of 49.50 points made them the first Asian gymnasts to take a Gold since gymnastic competitions began on October 28. France's Grégoire Pennes and Sébastien Martiny took a Silver medal, while Italians Dario Aloi and Flavio Cannone won the Bronze.

Acrobats and trampoliners are on their way back home as Aerobic gymnasts get ready for their competitions which start on Tuesday in the Kaohsiung Arena. Competitions in the categories of Individual Men, Individual Women, Mixed Pairs and Trios will last two days and will feature the final gymnastic events of these World Games 2009 Test Events.
