19 Oct 2009 20:46

Ian Ritchie, Chief Executive of the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, which runs the Wimbledon Championships, has joined the world-class line-up for the fourth International Sports Event Management Conference in London on November 10th.

When talking about the opportunity to speak at Sports Event Management Ian said:
“I am privileged to be involved with Wimbledon and very much look forward to meeting with other event professionals to debate how to further improve sports events,” he said.

Ian will be joined by Paul Meulendijk of global sports sponsors Mastercard and Sean Jefferson, leader at Mindshare performance consultancy to discuss: “Events + Brands: 2 + 2 = 5”.

The session will examine the relationship between brands and events and asks how this relationship can be made even more effective.

In advance of the Conference Ian Ritchie has commented:
“Sport has become increasingly important in this country and, as well as delivering on the pitch or on the court, facilities and event management have to be world-class”.

Ian will be joining some of the key decision makers in event management and the wider world of sport to discuss the key issues facing the event management sector. They include:

Sir Craig Reedie (Member International Olympic Committee and a member of the IOC Evaluation Commission for the 2016 Olympic Games)
Paul Deighton (CEO, London 2012)
HE Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani (Secretary General, Qatar Olympic Committee)
Sandy Hollway AO (CEO of Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games and Principal Adviser to the Australian International Sporting Events Secretariat, AISES)
Francis Tellier (CEO, Host Broadcast Services)
Rob Holt (Chief Executive, Ryder Cup Wales 2010 Ltd)
John Parker (Managing Director, Match Services A.G. – Tour Operator Programme for the 2010 FIFA World Cup TM)
Paul Williamson (Head of Ticketing, London 2012)
Steve Elworthy (Tournament Director for the ICC World Twenty20 England 2009)
Lars Lundov (Chief Executive, Sport Event Denmark)

The conference brings together senior delegates covering the entire spectrum of those involved in major sports events, including local organising committees, governing bodies and federations, venue owners, rights holders, marketing specialists, management companies and leading edge suppliers for one day of intensive discussion, networking and business.
