On 27 March 2009, the 104 members of the General Association of International Sports
Organisations (GAISF/AGFIS) decided to change the organisation’s name in to SportAccord.
This brand already had strong recognition and popularity within the international sports community through the SportAccord Convention, the annual gathering created and organised jointly by GAISF (now SportAccord), and the two organisations of Olympic Sports Federations, ASOIF and AIOWF.

Although sharing the same name, the two entities remain separate and independent, while working hand in hand with one common objective: uniting and supporting the international sports organisations.

SportAccord/GAISF will focus on providing services to its members on a day-to-day basis,
while SportAccord Convention focuses on organising two annual events: the International
Convention and the IF Forum. Please find below a comprehensive chart presenting the two organisations:
