2005 Duisburg

The 2005 Duisburg slogan creates high expectations and certainly puts the pressure on the organizers. Against the backdrop of an unsuccessful bid for the 2012 Olympics – Leipzig failed to make the cut and is not among the five candidates still in the running to host the Games of the XXX Olympiad – the stakes are high - but so is the hosts' self-confidence.

MSV DuisburgThe Rhine-Ruhr area at the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia, the self-proclaimed ‘Land of Sports’, counts among the most densely populated in Europe. 500,000 spectators are expected at the turnstiles to the World Games venues.
