Match 8 – RSA 1 ESP 2

South Africa almost hung on to earn a point after a dominant performance by Spain in game two of day two.

After scoring early and turning at half time at 1-1, South Africa defended with strength and discipline to almost hold on and draw the game.

Spain’s ninth corner and sixth for the half gave Xavi Ribas the opportunity to steal win after the final siren has sounded.

Spain face their toughest test against Netherlands on Friday, whilst South Africa play a critical game against Poland, which is a must-win game if they are to have a hope to qualify for Athens.

ESP Goals: Freixa (PC 28m), Ribas (PC 70m)
RSA Goals: S Evans (FG 5m)
