Match 11 – MAS 3 IND 5

A most entertaining game of hockey with both teams enjoying long periods of dominance and the opportunity to change the result.

Malaysia took off to a great start, leading 2-0 after 13 minutes.

India then played some scintillating hockey to lead 3-2 at the break, and then went 4-2 ahead 12 minutes after the restart.

Then followed a form reversal with Malaysia pinning India in their defensive half for long periods.

Malaysia earned eight penalty corners in this half for no result, which may prove costly in their efforts to make it to Athens.  They next play Canada on Saturday in a game they will expect to win.

India faces Pakistan in the match of the day on Saturday.

MAS Goal: Chua (PC 10m), Shanmuganathan (PC 13m), Rahim (PS 60m)
IND Goals: Gagan AS 2 (FG 27m 47m), Sonkhia (FG 16m), Tirkey (PC 29m), Dhillon (FG 63m)
