Match 13 – JPN 0 GBR 1

In front of a small group of vocal and animated fans, Great Britain has won a close encounter with Japan.

After starting well, Great Britain then endured long periods of Japanese possession, although occasionally broke into attack with speed and numbers, earning eight penalty corners for the match.

It was one of these breakaways that allowed Great Britain to score just before half time and hold on to win the game by the solitary goal.

Japan will rue their inability to convert their possession into shots and corners.  They face South Africa on Sunday and then Netherlands on Tuesday in their last chance to make the top four in Pool A.

Great Britain earn three vital points although they face a tough match on Sunday against Spain.  They then play South Africa on Tuesday.  They will need points from one of these matches.

GBR Goal: Bertram (PC 35m)
