Spain has become the first team to qualify for Athens from this tournament.

In front of a large home crowd of over 3,000 people, Spain dominated large periods of the game although were unable to convert. 

After a first half of constant Spanish pressure, it was Great Britain who scored first two minutes after the break through Danny Hall after they swooped on a defensive error.

Spain continued to apply pressure, and they finally scored from their seventh and eighth corners from veteran Xavier Ribas.

Due credit must go to the Great Britain defence who were outstanding in the face of significant pressure.

Spain plays Poland on Tuesday, whilst Great Britain plays South Africa.
