Match 22– BEL 2 CAN 2

A frustrating game for Belgium, who dominated large periods of the game with the ball in their attacking half, and not able to convert.

This was in part due to Canada’s excellent defence.

Belgium’s dominance came for the first 25 minutes of each half, after which Canada had a later resurgence to reapply pressure on the Belgian defence.

Belgium now has three points they play Malaysia tomorrow.  The winner of this game will finish fourth in Pool B and thus still be in with a chance to qualify for Athens.

Canada’s Olympic dreams are now essentially over, with just one point from four matches and India as their next opponent, they need to win by a large margin tomorrow and hope that Belgium and Malaysia draw.

BEL Goals: Brule (PC 24m), Dewever (FG 49m)
CAN Goals: Campbell (FG 30m), Short (PS 32m)
