Match 23 – IND 2 NZL 0

A match that New Zealand will consider they should have won.

With strong periods of field dominance in the first half, and almost all the second half played in their attacking half, New Zealand missed six penalty corners and three prime chances to score.

India also had chances to score, although looked nothing like the team that played so well against Pakistan the two days before.

After scoring early in the game, India's second goal came because of New Zealand's over commitment in attack.

The direct qualification places in Pool B is still wide open, with the next match between Malaysia and Pakistan critical in keeping options alive.

New Zealand plays Pakistan tomorrow, whilst India has an easier match against Canada.

IND Goals: Halappa (FG 2m), Thakur (67m)
