General Resources provided:
 

  • Umpire Assessment Guidelines – a typical Umpire Performance Report form, and areas for consideration during assessment of an umpire’s match performance (UA1)
  • Fitness Test Guidelines – information concerning the Fitness Tests currently used for testing International Umpires and the requirements per age range (UA2)
  • Umpiring Made Easy (A Presentation for Players) - an England Hockey resource to both help and inform players who wish to try umpiring or may be umpiring their first game (UA3)

Resources available:

  • A  Guide to Umpiring Hockey 2007-2008 – a Sports Resources publication available from the FIH Office at CHF 25.00 per copy inclusive of postage and packing. It is A5 in size and comprises 80 printed pages with a soft back cover.
    • The publication embraces everything that you need to know about umpiring in today’s fast and continually changing game. It is as useful to the trainee umpire, the school teacher or the club umpire as to those involved in higher levels of competition.
    • There are chapters on Preparation, Psychological Skills, Match Management, Common Sense - the Unwritten Rule, Fitness - Mobility and Positioning, The Language of the Game, Match Preparation, The Rules of the Game, Reflection and Evaluation, Umpire Coaching and Managing, Use of Video, Indoor Hockey Umpiring and Say Thank You
    • Written by Jane Nockolds, a FIH Umpires Manager and recently retired World Panel Umpire, it is easy to understand, packed full of tips and supported by photographs throughout its pages.
