GENERAL INFORMATION

Finest sporting moment: Winning gold at the European Short Course Championships in Vienna- 2004

Tip for the top: Keep going because it's worth it in the end

First GB selection year: 2001

Sporting hero: Steve Parry- he's like a big brother to me. I really admire and look up to him

Closest friends in sport: Jo Jackson and Rebecca Adlington

Other sporting successes: I have some gymnastics awards and netball. I was made to do ballet when I was younger- I wasn't graceful at all and had a step like an elephant!

Favourite sport other than swimming: Netball

Three words that best describe you: Giggly, funny and dedicated

Would most like to meet: Kelly Holmes- her achievements have been amazing

Most prized possession: My nephew called Gary.

Biggest influence on career: My brother because he used to swim and I got involved because of his influence. My sister also swam and she helped me along the way

Toughest opponent: Becky Cooke! I think she's the hardest person anybody could swim against

Biggest passion away from swimming: My family and friends

Biggest disappointment: I always seem to have missed major competitions in the past few years by a fractional amount of time. I missed qualifying for the World Championships in 2003 for the 1500m by 0.5secs. I also missed breaking the British Record for the 400m I.M by 0.2secs (2005)

Favourite venue and why: Manchester Aquatics Centre because it's a fast pool with a great atmosphere

Tips to relax: Sleep!

Family: My mum is called Patrica and she is a credit controller. My dad is called Jim and he is a kitchen fitter. I also have a sister called Janine and she's at university studying Nursing as well as a brother called Mark

Ultimate ambition: To win an Olympic medal

Where do you see yourself in 10 years: Settling down
