Jamie wins gold and silver
at National Special Olympics 2005
The National Special Olympics were held in Glasgow in early July and attracted 2,500 athletes from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands. Delegations were also present from overseas including Germany, Spain and Poland.
Nineteen year old Jamie Dancyger who trains at the Ryland Centre was part of the West Midlands delegation that went to Glasgow . He ran in the 200m, 400m and 4 x 400 m relay. He finished 7th in his division over 200m on 4th July. He won a silver medal as part of the West Midlands' 4 x 400m relay team on the 7th. Their time of 4 minutes 6.97 seconds was only bettered by the Scotland West Athletics team. The following day, Jamie went one better and won the gold in the 800m with a final score of 2 minutes 27.10 seconds.
