Success in European Special Olympics
Three athletes from the Special Olympics group who train with B&R at the Ryland Centre on Mondays travelled to Olomouc in the Czech Republic for the European Special Olympics Competition (19th - 24th August 2005).
Phil Woodyatt won a silver medal in the 400m with a season's best of 61.29 seconds and a bronze in the long jump with 4.20 m (following 4.52 m in his heat).
Richard Murphy won a bronze in the 100m in 12.66 seconds and went one better with silver in the U19 200 m in 25.39 seconds.
Jamie Dancyger's 29.6 seconds earned him the gold in his 200 m and he set a new P.B. of 2 minutes 17 seconds to claim the silver in the 800 m.
Phil and Jamie both ran in the team that won the silver medals in the relay, beaten only by the Russian team.
The same three athletes had run for Worcestershire in the county match at Eastbourne at the start of August. Their performances there were as follow: Phil 400 m 63.8 s, Long Jump 4.43 m; Richard 100 m 12.5 s, 200 m 26.2 s; Jamie 800 m 2-30, 1500 m 4-54.
