B & R Fifteen Medal Haul from Midland Championships

Bromsgrove and Redditch athletes came away from the Midland Masters Championships at Solihull with an impressive tally of 15 gold and silver medals.

Busiest athlete on the day was field event specialist Julie Wakelam who finished in first place in the High Jump, Long Jump, Discus and Javelin and was runner up in the Hammer and the Triple Jump.

Also competing in the field events Mike Jones won gold in both the Discus and Shot Putt and finished in the silver medal position in the Hammer and Javelin.

On the track, sprinters Polly Gerner and Yvonne Priestman won gold in their 200 metre races with Gerner finishing as runner up in the 100 metres. Over two laps, David Carney won his race to take gold. Also on the track race walker Sharon Tonks finished in the silver medal position in the 5k event.
