Special Olympian Jamie Dancyger moves up to half marathon
Sunday 9th July 2006
Jamie Dancyger has been running nationally and internationally on the track from 200m to 1500m in Special Olympics events, but made the jump up to half-marathon distance at Wyre Forest. He was the only B&R member running in the Amazing Feet-organised event. His time of 1-33-27 over the tough, wooded, off-road course placed him 41st out of 249 finishers. The men's race was won by Tom Kenderdine (Kidderminster & Stourport) in 1-13-46. Clare Grice (Birchfield Harriers) ran 1-28-59 to finish as first woman and 25th overall - her second win in a week as she had won the women's race at the Rubery MT round Waseley Hills the previous Monday (where she was second overall out of about 50 finishers). Stourbridge RC won the men's team prize at the Wyre Forest.
