West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country League

Perry Barr, Birmingham

Sunday 12th November 2006

The second fixture in this season’s Young Athletes Cross Country League was held at Perry Barr in Birmingham last Sunday. The club had its best performances to date.

Georgie Savage had an outstanding race and sprinted into first place on the final hill in the U/13 girls event. She was supported by Sally Hogan (18th), Sophie Bales (37th), Hayley Oliver (50th), Laura Thomas (60th) and Olivia Newell (69th).

Georgie Hartigan was just pipped for first place in the U/11 race. Hayley Bocking improved to get 20th and Molly Savage, in her first cross country for the club, did well to get 23rd. The club’s other finishers were Rachel Piper (45th), Laura Bowmar (49th), Anna Ball (51st), Francesca Varnish (71st) and Charlotte Tongue (78th).

Tomasina Ball had a strong run to finish 35th in the U/15 girls race backed up by Laura Porter (57th), Naomi Barrett (61st), Holly Chapman (74th) and Charlotte Evans (85th).

The club’s only competitor in the U/11 boys race was Miles Burke who finished 49th.

Chris Warren in the U/13 boys event had his best race to date, finishing a great third. Other placings were Jack Morley 54th, Howie Harrison 56th, Jamie Scoltock 68th, and Ben Beat 74th.

Sean Bowden was back to good form in the U/15 boys with a splendid second place with Adam Peacock 30th.

In the U/17 boys race, Simon Lanckham was first finisher for the club in 21st with Tom Wedgbury 35th and Ben Richardson 38th.
