25-11-06 Liverpool Cross Challenge

The second race in UK Athletics Cross Challenge series, incorporating the European trials was held in conjunction with the Mid. Lancs. & District CC League and the Liverpool & District CC League at Sefton Park in Liverpool. Race conditions were described as energy-sapping with much of the course covered by mud and there were stories of runners finishing shoeless having had their spikes claimed by the quagmire. 

Bromsgrove & Redditch athlete Matt Addison finished 85th out of 414 in 35:28 in the men’s race. The winner Frank Tickner (Wells City AC) recorded 31:18 for the 10km course. The women’s 6.5 km race was won by Great Britain international Jo Pavey (Exeter Harriers) in 23-28.
