Bromsgrove & Redditch runner Ian Keyte took advantage of cheap flights and German hospitality to take part in the 10 km “old town race” in Essen. The picturesque four lap road race through the town included a cobbled uphill section and passed alongside the Ruhr.

The forecast was for very cold weather so Ian had to forego his club colours as the only B&R vest he took was a mesh one. He had a good run to finish 4th overall in 37-10 and was first in the veteran over 45 category. He now has his sights set on a race through the nearby woods in April.
