Quiz Nite & Race Nite

At Redditch United Football Club, Bromsgrove Road.

Over £170 was raised in aid of the Welsh Castles and Hilly Hundred relays and a good night enjoyed by all in spite of a few technical hitches.

Clear winners in the quiz were a team (pictured above) whose name cannot be published, comprising Jane, Paul, Dagmar and Ian. The quizmaster, Mr. Clive 'the knowledge' Brown was rightly proud of dredging up the names of the 20 football clubs who are ex-Premier league teams - who apart from Barry Cooke would have remembered Crystal Palace in such lofty surroundings?

With John Manley's assistance in overcoming the rogue remote for the DVD player, a relieved Mr. Dave 'Detori' Cleverley acted as Race Director for a card of six races. None of the punters will ever forget the intro and accompanying music to the 'Sport of Kings'. Whilst most of us were tearing up our betting slips in frustration, Ann Beacham demonstrated her prowess by picking at least four winners.

So well done Clive & Dave for putting the vent together and to all who attended to boost club funds.
