Cotswold Hilly 100

Sunday 20th May 2007

Three B&R teams ran this year’s 100 mile charity relay through the Cotswolds over 10 legs each of about 10 miles. Bridgit Birch was our first runner off with the ‘C’ team starting at 5 a.m. from the American fountain in Stratford-upon-Avon. Clive Brown chose to run the first leg for the ‘B’ team, starting at 6 a.m., getting his run out of the way so that he could concentrate on managing and recording all our other runners – he promptly ran the fastest leg of the day for the “B”s. Clive and second leg runner Dave Cleverley had a long day out supporting our teams right to the finish with barely time for a pastie, oh and a pint at Moreton-in-the-Marsh. Phil Scarr made a welcome return to this event after suffering in the extreme heat in June two years ago, leading the ‘A’ team off in the 7 a.m. cup. The ‘A’ team kept up the club’s good record taking third place in the 7 a.m. cup just 9 minutes behind winners Leamington. Overall our navigational skills appear to have improved and so far no one has admitted to disappearing off course for unplanned visits to Snowshill Manor or the like.

Thanks go to Clive for all the effort he put in to getting three teams out and all the runners and non-runners who provided support on the course. Congratulations again to Stratford A.C. for organizing the event.
