Last minute entrant Ian triumphs
Richard Shardlow's bad luck in having to miss this race through injury turned out to be fellow B&R runner Ian Keyte's good fortune as Ian picked up his number and won the race!
This is a new 10k multi-terrain race and was sold out weeks in advance with Amazing Feet and Stourbridge Running Club both sending large contingents. Could it have anything to do with the promise of the post-race B-B-Q? (Note that the Blakedown website has an e-mail address that you can get advance notification of the 2008 event).
Of course given the weather we've been having this month it was wet and muddy. The race organiser's description of the course stated that it included a circumnavigation of "Mount Segg" and the hill really is called that on the OS map.
Ian was first home in 40.09, followed by Amazing Feet's Shaw Pye (40.16) and Stourbridge's Simon Link (40.23). The prize for first woman went to Louise Hey from Stourbridge R.C. in 46.03.
