Heart of England T&F League

Sunday 5th August 2007

B&R girls win two age groups, Georgie gets a club record and newcomer Naomi makes a winning debut

B&R girls U13s and U15s clinched victory in the Heart of England T&F League fixture at the Abbey Stadium in Redditch.

The club 800m record in the U13s age group was broken by Georgie Savage with a time of 2 minutes 27 seconds, while newcomer Naomi Geohagan bagged wins in the shot, javelin and a second place in the high jump.

Further good results for the side saw Isobel Billau triumph in the 1,500 m, Hayley Bocking win both the 200m and the shot put for the B team (need to check the shot results - the report in the paper said Hayley but the results spreadsheet said Laura Hands and I've put Laura in the table below - Phil), before joining up with Naomi Geohagan, Daisy Johnson and Romy Naven to take victory in the 4 x 100m relay.

In the U11s age group Molly SAvage ran a personal best time of 1 minute 56 seconds on her way to vicory fror the A team and Rachel Piper came home third for the side in the 75m.

Rachel Baker was in outstanding form for the U15s squad with wins in the high jump and long jump events, while Tomasina Ball came first in the 75m hurdles, javelin and was third in the 800m for the A side.

Paizlee Hibbert ran a time of 14.1 seconds on her way to victory in the 100m sprint and teamed up with Ball, Piper and Ria Samuels to win the 4 x 100m relay.

Jo Frost clocked a time of 12.9 seconds as she led the field home in the women's 100m and Amy Irish followed in her footsteps in the 400m in 1 minute 4 seconds.

Sarah Gerner finished second in the long jump with a distance of 4.55 m and Charlotte Cole was also runner up in the 800m race.

The boys team had fewer competitors and were less successful overall but picked up some PBs and individual wins.

James Wright and Lewis Anderson (with a PB) picked up third places for the U11s side in the 75m and 600m respectively.

Simeon Clarence triumphed in the high jump for the U13s age group, while Nick Freer won the sprint double of 100m and 200m and Lawson Phipps-Jones completed the 1,500m in 5 minutes 19 seconds for a first place finish.

In the U17s category there were wins for Sean Bowden in the 800m and 1,500m races, Luke Evans in the 400m and James Mobley in the 100m.

The last Heart of England match will be on Sunday 2nd September – let Rita know if you are available. More U11 girls are particularly needed and more boys so that we can run the boy’s relay team. Also remember that there will be no training at Bromsgrove on Monday 20th and Monday 27th August.
