Deenes Doone 10
North Devon

Above: Roger & Pete in good spirits after a very tough 10.
Roger Beacham and Pete Hawcroft completed the Deenes Doone 10 miler on Sunday 16th September. The largely off road course ran up out of Lynmouth and Pete said that this was the hardest course he had ever run.
The first 3 miles were up a wooded valley and steeply uphill over a rough, stony and rooty track. The course was then up above Lynton with spectacular views but constantly up and down with some awkward descending and steep climbs. The winner recorded 64 minutes which gives an idea of the toughness of the route.
After Roger's recent incident at Race the Train it was good to see him finish (left) in good shape and a great achievement to be first over 65. (He is now available for promotional work). Following months of niggly injuries Pete was pleased to finish strongly and injury free.
Overall it's a great event on a spectacular course and brilliantly marshalled but don't expect a PB.
Pete

P.S. The third picture (above) is Roger recovering and not praying for success.
