Press release from Worcestershire County Council
Repairs on track to start at youth centre
Repairs to an athletics track in Bromsgrove are set to be carried out by Worcestershire County Council by the start of next month (May).
The County Council has instructed contractors to carry out repairs, which will start before the end of this month (April). The track at the Ryland Centre has been closed following health and safety concerns.
The work is set to cost in the region of £6,000 to carry out and be funded equally between the County Council and Bromsgrove School.
The track and athletic facilities at the New Road-based centre are currently undergoing a wide-ranging review being undertaken by the County Council aimed at exploring the best options for the future of the track.
The report, which is nearing completion, is set to be presented to County Councillors for full consideration in the very near future.
County Councillor Anthony Blagg (Bromsgrove Central) said: “Contractors have been appointed and the repairs are set to be completed within a matter of weeks.
“Once these repairs have been completed, users will be able to resume their full programme of activities at the centre, which is widely used by sports groups and the wider community.”
People wanting to find out more about the Ryland Centre or its track facilities should call Dave Evans, Operations Manager, Youth Support North Worcestershire on 01905 765417.
